Bio and Neurofeedback training is a process where brain waves are translated to feedback in real time using special equipment to allow clients to get feedback based on their current mental state and improve over time (20 to 40 Sessions). In other words, engaging in Bio and Neurofeedback is a way to train your brain and the waves it sends out to the rest of your body to promote self-regulation. Through this training, your brain learns to engage in a new way as feedback teaches it to self-regulate and correct a specific activity.
At Heritage, we have optimized a plan that we have seen first-hand, improve our client’s mental performance. Our first step is to schedule an EEG. This allows us to get a baseline for activity occurring in the brain of a client and takes approximately an hour to complete. The EEG is sent off and reviewed by a contracted neuropsychologist who develops a qEEG report and set of protocols for us to follow as we start training. We then set up a one hour feedback session where we review the Neurological Report and discuss the training that is tailored specifically for you. Once that is completed, you may begin your 5 session of Biofeedback. In these sessions, a trained technician will oversee the development of regulatory breathing patterns to change your heart rhythm pattern to create physiological coherence; a scientifically measurable state characterized by increased order and harmony in our mind, emotions and body. Once those are completed, you may begin your 20 sessions of Neurofeedback. In these sessions you will work to train your brainwaves to help increase or decrease certain brain functions to improve your overall mental status.
We have found this model of treatment to be beneficial in conjunction with therapy for client’s who struggle with depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, traumatic brain injuries, concussions, post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, chronic pain, addictions, memory deficits, Autism, and performance training.
