Dr. George A. Ball, Psy.D.,LP, has been providing therapeutic services to adolescents, adults, couples, and families since 2009. Dr. Ball joined Heritage in 2016 and has served as Clinical Director for the practice since 2020. Dr. Ball specializes in working with couples and individual adults presenting with a variety of issues.

Dr. Ball has worked successfully with couples struggling with communication, boundaries, infidelity, life transitions and lost feelings of connection. Dr. Ball also specializes in coaching adults on how to navigate relationships with their spouse, children, coworkers, and social group. Additionally, Dr. Ball has developed an expertise in the treatment of various anxiety disorders.

Dr. Ball also provides ADHD, psychoeducational, and personality testing for Heritage. Psychoeducational batteries are a key feature of diagnosing learning disorders, behavior problems, and learning styles. Results from psychoeducational batteries can be used to influence 504 plans with your child/adolescent and target specific learning differences for treatment. Tests include measures of attention, concentration, intelligence, achievement, reading, math, and behavior. Personality assessment utilizes both objective and projective measures of personality for the purpose of diagnostic clarification and treatment planning.

Dr. Ball discovered a passion for the psychological sciences while working as a research assistant in a psychology lab at the University of Mississippi, where he had the opportunity to conduct his own research. Dr. Ball continued his education at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where he earned both his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology. While in graduate school, Dr. Ball concentrated his studies on marriage and family therapy. Dr. Ball brings with him an openness to the experiences of his clients and a passion for working collaboratively to find the best way to treat each client he serves.

Dr. Ball has experience conducting individual, couples, and family therapy across a wide array of settings, clinical populations, and pathology levels. Throughout his training, Dr. Ball completed rotations with military populations, community mental health and outpatient hospital settings, as well as social service agencies. Dr. Ball completed his Pre-Doctoral Internship at the Chicago Area Christian Training Consortium where he conducted individual and couples therapy and also served as Intake Coordinator for a therapy practice located in downtown Chicago.

Dr. Ball completed his Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Chicago Clinical Associates where he further refined his clinical skill working with adults and couples. Dr. Ball is trained in multiple evidenced based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, and Systems. Dr. Ball tailors each treatment plan to the client’s needs and goals. Dr. Ball has a calm demeanor in session but is very active in discussing potential methods of change.

When Dr. Ball is not seeing clients, he is spending time with his wife and three sons, reading, or creating his own bar-b-que sauces and dry rubs.
