Muranna Sherwood, MA, LMFT is a caring and compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

She specializes in treating children and adolescents. Muranna’s mission is to help foster resiliency among clients by establishing a safe space to heal and grow. Muranna integrates play therapy, art, movement, storytelling, and humor into her clinical work to help children process and learn in ways that feel most natural to them. Muranna is guided by evidence-based practices, including CBT, attachment-based therapy, narrative therapy, and emotion-focused therapy. Muranna’s therapeutic approach is child-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed.

Muranna has extensive experience with helping clients work through a variety of presenting challenges including emotion regulation, social and behavioral challenges, trauma, abuse and neglect, self-esteem, attachment disruptions, grief, and loss, struggles with school functioning, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, adoption, parenting, and difficulty with adjustment to life stressors that lead to disruptions to both individual and family functioning. Muranna attended the University of Minnesota and received her B.A. in Child Psychology with a minor in Family Violence Prevention. She completed her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

Muranna recently moved to Texas from Minnesota. Prior to moving, Muranna was a Child and Family Therapist at Washburn Center for Children, the state’s leading children's mental health center for five years. She focused on providing a variety of therapeutic services including, day treatment group therapy, outpatient therapy, school-based therapy, and family therapy to children who exhibited social, emotional, and behavioral challenges as a result of experiencing early life disruptions. Muranna also has three years of professional experience providing intensive early intervention therapy and ABA to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Muranna’s passion for working with children combined with her educational and professional background has helped her develop a strong competency in child development and mental health. She looks forward to warmly welcoming your child and family to therapy.

In Muranna’s free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones.
